I am in an epson salt bath recovering after another big weekend of training with 4 weeks left till my 19th Ironman since 2012. Friday we woke up at 5am for an early 2.1km swim. After work it was a 2hr trainer ride at 251/255NP. I did Epic KOM x2 at 272 and 277 watts. Finished it with a 5 mile brick easy.

Saturday Fionas coach had 115mile ride planned so I stayed with Fiona to keep her safe. We started at u20am here in Sahuarita, AZ but by hour 4 temps were at 105F. We headed south to Arivaca and 286 where lors of the lical pros like Hoffman and Long ride all the time. The road is by far THE best road in Tucson. Just wow. We stopped at Arivaca twice, and a Dollar General. 5hr50min. We headed to Ventana Canyon Resort to celebrate our 9 year anniversary and I ran 5M on the treadmill. Then we went for a very memorable meal at Lowes Resort, just stunning. Champagne and wine had me sleep terrible and wake up at 4am to drink water… the plant food diet and no alcohol was mostly non existent this season but meat is still not a major purchase in our house.

We woke up and swam 4,200 yards in an amazing lap pool with some strong swimmers. We headed back and I just completed a 3hr30min, 22mile run on the treadmill. It was 108F when we got home and this week its going up to 112/113 so will be mostly inside.

This week was my biggest week of the season and biggest in 8 months since IMAZ. I trained 20.5hrs and ran 53miles.

From the start of the season I am down 10lbs to 183ish. It would be lower if not for the alcohol. But resting HR is down from 43ish to a 37. I even hit 34 the other day, damn.
With 4 weeks to go I am looking forwards to the pain and mental strength, the cando attitude and will power it takes to finish an Ironman. Kona is no longer a goal, it has become a complete joke to the sport. I also cant set time goals since Placid will be another tough course. But I am looking to be realistic and try pacing this better than ever before which should allow me to have a lot of fun.
I ended up getting my new Argon disc but went through a 3″ pot hole and destroyed 2 carbon wheels so I am waiting for replacements and on my old Argon. The new bike is incredible and position way better so cant wait for that. Fiona is also doing great with her training can coach. Stay tuned for Kevin and Fiona Coyle at IMLP!
